About Us

Leigh Court Farm ltd is a small business devoted to growing organic vegetables and fruit for a weekly box scheme and a Farmers' Market in Bristol. We have 4 permanent staff and employ a number of extra workers for the growing season.  We have been gradually expanding our business and providing fresh produce to our customers, since 1998.  Currently we deliver about 400 boxes each week and have a regular stall at Whiteladies Road Farmers' Market every Saturday.

We are farming over 25 acres in total with production spread out over 3 fields: the historic walled garden in Abbots Leigh, Portbury field, and land in Failand.  The varied soil types and microclimates available on these different sites enable us to grow a wide range of crops. All our fields are within 5 miles of Bristol.

We are based in the grounds of Leigh Court estate at Abbots Leigh on the outskirts of Bristol. This is where our office, farm equipment and packing shed are situated. The 2-acre Victorian walled garden provides shelter and warmth which can extend the season a month earlier in spring and later in autumn. This is where we grow our intensive long season crops such as french beans, runner beans and courgettes which require regular watering and harvesting.

We also have 6 full size polytunnels -these allow us to grow more tender long season crops such as early french beans, cucumbers, basil, and masses of tomatoes! We also have an ancient orchard with a mix of apple trees.
