Leigh Court Farm ltd is a small business devoted to growing organic vegetables and fruit for our box scheme and markets in Bristol and the surrounding area. We are employee owned, so all of the permanent staff have shares in the enterprise, and take on different management roles within the organization. We have 4 staff at present. We have been gradually expanding our business, and providing fresh produce to our customers, since 1999.
We grew 20 acres of vegetables in 2009, and plan to expand our growing area to 26 acres in 2010. Production is spread out over 4 fields: the walled garden in Abbots Leigh, Portbury field, Failand Front Ground, and part of Bathing Pool fields in Wraxall. The varied soil types and microclimates available on these different sites enable us to grow a wide range of crops. All our fields are within 5 miles of Bristol.

We are based in the grounds of Leigh court estate at Abbots Leigh on the outskirts of Bristol. This is where our office, farm equipment and packing shed are situated. The 2 acre Victorian walled garden provides shelter and warmth which can extend the season a month earlier in spring and later in autumn. This is where we grow our intensive long season crops such as french beans, runner beans and courgettes which require regular watering and harvesting. We also have 6 full size poly tunnels (the 2 in the walled garden photograph were relocated some years ago) these allow us to grow more tender long season crops such as early french beans, cucumbers, basil, and masses of tomatoes! The rest of the site comprises of an ancient orchard, 3 acre woodland and 3 acre paddock.
The main entrance is on the A369, almost exactly two miles from both the Clifton Suspension Bridge and Jct.19 of the M5.
By bike take the Portishead cycle-path and head up through Paradise Bottom or from Clifton follow the tracks through Leigh Woods to Leigh Court.
